Freedom Band, recognised by its yellow colour, was established by Capt. Henry Brisibe and Mr. Larry Esin in 2005.

Since its creation, the band has consistently ranked among the top three in all past editions of the Carnival Calabar event. The current grand patron of the band is His Excellency, Barr. Efiok Cobham, who serves as the Deputy Governor of Cross River State.
